AUC Faculty to Teach at Harvard Divinity School this Fall
Mariam Ayad '94, associate professor of Egyptology, has been appointed a research associate at the Women's Studies in Religion Program (WSRP) of the Harvard Divinity School for the 2020-2021 academic year.
Every year, the WSRP invites five scholars to spend a year at Harvard working on book-length manuscripts. The scope of research supported by WSRP covers all periods of history, all faith traditions and is not restricted by a geographic region — attracting more than 100 applicants every year and making the selection process competitive. Since the program's inception, only one other Egyptologist has been appointed as a research associate of WSRP. Ayad will take up her appointment at Harvard in mid-August.
During her time at Harvard, Ayad will teach a seminar focusing on ancient Egyptian conceptions of death, salvation, divine judgement and the afterlife.
