School of Business Alumni Sandra Farid and Tarek Hosny Appointed as Advisers for Egypt's Minister of Tourism and Antiquities
During such challenging times, our alumni have been as active as always, continuously serving Egypt in different ways and capacities. Recently, Egypt’s Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Khaled Al-Anani appointed alumnus Tarek Hosny to work as an adviser to the Minister for Strategic Studies and Marketing, and alumna Sandra Farid, to work as an economic adviser to the minister. The decision comes within the framework of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities' keenness to seek the assistance and support of distinguished talents and cadres with expertise in order to reach the optimum degrees of achievement.
Farid graduated in 2011 with a dual bachelor’s degree in economics and business administration along with an MA in economics from Marburg University, Germany. She was earlier of the team of economists who participated in setting the economic plan for the Suez Canal axis project. Additionally, she is also the CEO and founding partner of Acumen Consulting Company, which was tasked for setting the export strategy for food industries between 2018-2023 by the Ministry of Trade and Industry. In addition, she was in charge of evaluating Egypt’s Vision 2030 indicators a year after its launch by the Ministry of Planning. Prior to that, Farid had worked on setting up a mechanism to reduce illegal immigration in touristic cities by training young people to enter the labor market in the tourism sector in cooperation with the International Organization for Migration of the United Nations.
As for Hosny, he graduated in 1999 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration along with an MA in media and communications from the London School of Economics and Political Science in London, in addition to obtaining many training certificates specialized in marketing and management; chief among them is the Commercial Excellence Certificate from IMD In Lausanne Switzerland. He practiced his career in a number of leading global marketing companies, where he took upon various leadership positions and was chosen among the 40 best marketing managers in the Gulf countries in 2016.
